.......... is the Oscars as it should be -- everyone can download the year's nominations using the popular BitTorrent service, watch the movies, then use our rating system to choose their favourites. Why restrict the voting to a few bought-off jurors when the whole world can have their say?
Downloading

To download any film up for an Oscar this year, you'll need three things: an internet connection, a computer, and a BitTorrent client. The official Bittorrent client is here, or Azureus, a larger but more feature-laden client, is here. Install your software, then click on any of the download links next to the films. There's a guide to downloading with BitTorrent here. Let us know if there seems to be anything wrong with a particular Torrent and we'll try to fix it.
Voting

Once you've watched a film, you can vote on it -- but please, do watch before you vote! On Oscars night, we'll post your results right along with the 'official' ones. Of course this is the way it should be done now that movie distribution is almost free. Hollywoodland might not like it, but some people always have to be dragged kicking and screaming into the future.
Help Us!

You might notice that a few little torrents are missing here and there. Sometimes we had to post YouTube versions, and one or two movies we still haven't been able to find (the list is here.) If you can help with a good version of the movies we're missing, or a better version of ones we already found -- mail us.
The Future

If the Oscars nominations don't interest you much (though we think this was a great year for movies and there's some good films to watch here) hop on over to The Torrent Review. It's like Digg for Torrents: you can read reviews about interesting movies that have recently been shared on all sorts of trackers, rate and comment others' reviews, or add your own.
'Legal' Note

To those worried about downloading in case they get sued: by our calculations, your chances of getting nailed are way less than your chances of winning the lottery. Don't think twice about it.

To all intellectual property landlords: we are aware that .......... might annoy you -- but contain your righteous indignation for a while, and think: we're only linking to torrents that already exist. Face it: your membrane has burst, and it wasn't us who burst it. Your precious bodily fluids are escaping.

You haven't beaten us, so why not join us? Think of a new business model that doesn't involve overpriced pieces of plastic and skanky cinemas hawking cheap carbohydrates while relying on $6/hr projectionists who can't keep a film in focus -- not to mention insulting your audiences by (to pick a few examples) surveilling us with nightvision glasses, searching bags, 30 minutes of commercials and bombarding us with ridiculous anti-piracy propaganda. Take a look at yourselves. Is it really any wonder we're winning?

La première édition des OscarTorrents s'est déroulée avec grand succès. Le site créé par les administrateurs de ThePiratageBay.org a rassemblé 133.378 votants, qui se sont prononcés après avoir pu consulter les films grâce aux liens de téléchargement pour BitTorrent proposés par l'équipe. Le grand gagnant est Le Labyrinthe de Pan, avec 6 Oscartorrents dont celui du meilleur film étranger. Une provocation osée contre Hollywood et son association de protection la MPAA. "On espère qu'on aura pas à le refaire l'année prochaine. Avec un peu de chance vous le ferez pour nous", a redit l'équipe, qui avait déjà affimé qu'elle lançait les OscarTorrents avant tout pour pousser Hollywood dans "la bonne direction". Notons au passage une série de remerciements sans laquelle les OscarTorrents ne seraient pas tout à fait une cérémonie de remises des prix... et un remerciement tout spécial à Bram Cohen, sans qui "rien de tout cela n'aurait été possible".

Un clein d'oeil au jour où le créateur de BitTorrent sort sa plate-forme marchande et sous DRM.

Je suis très content que "Le labyrinthe de Pan" soit récompensé mais je suis aussi déçu de savoir que beaucoups n'ont pas vu le film en salle !
Guillermo Del Toro est un véritable génie du 7éme art et il est vital pour ce réalisateur d'etre soutenu de la meilleure manière : ALLEZ AU CINEMA pour apprécier la beauté de cette oeuvre et montrer à Hollywood, à Luc Besson et à Patrick Le Lay que les spectateurs ne sont pas tous des cerveaux disponnibles pour leur merde.

Sinon nique les "Oscars" et les "Césars" et vive les Gérards !!!

Les Gérards (en référence à Depardieu) sont l'équivalent des "Razzies Awards" et récompensent le pire du cinéma.
Cette année Audrey Tautou a bien mérité son Gérard de la pire actrice pour son role de potiche dans Le Code Da Vinci !
